Leaf After Leaf is an ongoing journey into the world of tea—its tastes, its places, its people, and its meaning.

My name is Jake. I’m an American writer, traveler, and tea lover who is sharing what I learn with those interested in diving into the tea world. I came to tea not through heritage or childhood ritual, but by discovery in adulthood. What started as a casual curiosity has become a deeper pursuit: not just of tea as a beverage, but of tea as a craft and a cultural thread connecting people across borders.

I’ve lived across the U.S., Europe, and East Asia and each place has reshaped how I see tea. My wife is Korean-American, and her family’s tea habits first opened my eyes to more than the supermarket Lipton bags or sugary iced tea drinks. Since then, I’ve explored tea gardens, traditions, and teacups from England to Morocco to the Azores and more. I will continue traveling the world with my family and seeking how tea manifests itself in the every day life.

Here at Leaf After Leaf, you’ll find:

• Essays on tea craft, identity, and place

• Field notes from travel, tasting, and tea traditions

• Reviews and impressions of teas I’m exploring—no gimmicks, no jargon

•Reflections on building a more grounded, honest American tea culture

•A mission to help shape and share a thoughtful American tea identity — one that’s real, diverse, and still unfolding

I’m not a tea master, a content creator, or a lifestyle brand. Just a dad with a notepad, a deep interest, and a desire to trace how tea connects culture, craft, and everyday life.

This space is for the curious, the skeptical, the serious, and the playful. Whether you’re steeped in tradition or just beginning, welcome.
